Deadbeat Dads?

Are deadbeat dads really deadbeat. I know many men that are broken financially, spiritually, and everyway by a system that allows women to dictate the terms under which they leave a marriage. Do some changes towards more fairness need to be made especially the "I am the woman and should have the children" card?
