Is the 1957 film A farewell to arms similar to the book?

im reading the book for school and i came acroos the kmovie and i tivoed it i havent watched it yet beacuse i dont want to get the film and book mixed up, but sometimes watching the movie helps create a picture to go along with the book and i was wondering what the similarities and differences between the book and film.
